This is a simple recipe that can be made for a quick meal with hamburger, noodles and some spices. It is my version of homemade hamburger helper. As a Mom I find that time is very precious and spending a lot of time on dinner even though I love to cook just isn’t one of those things I want to do when things are busy or I am tired from a ruff day with the baby.
On Sunday’s my husband and I like to spend time outside with our 20 month old enjoying the sun and fresh air relaxing before the week starts again. I usually make dinner ahead of time because I like to have a special meal on Sunday’s to end the week and this is done while the baby is sleeping as long as I have time.
Well this Sunday I didn’t have time for that so I made this easy Hamburger Helper using ground beef that I needed to cook, one pot so less dishes, spices and noodles. I don’t know about you but our family likes homemade meals nothing out of the box and I like to know exactly what I am feeding my family so I try to make everything from scratch. Hamburger Helper is very easy to make from scratch.
- 1 LB Ground beef
- Pasta of any kind
- 1 TBS Corn Starch
- 1 tsp Pepper
- 1 Cup Chicken Stock
- 2 Cups Milk
- 2 Cups of Water
- 1/2 tsp Lawry’s or Season All
- 1/2 tsp Pepprica
- 1 tsp Garlic Powder
- 1/4 tsp Oregano
- 1 tsp Minced Onion
- 1/4 tsp Cayenne Pepper optional
In a large pot brown ground beef and drain fat when done, then add in the spices, chicken stock, milk, corn starch and water and bring to a boil. Add in noodles and simmer with lid on 10 to 12 minutes or until noodles are done. Dinner is officially done in 15 minutes using just one pot yay, don’t you love when you don’t have to do a ton of dishes after dinner!
You can put cheese in it as well if you want to make it a cheesy hamburger helper, we love adding cheese to everything it makes it so good.
Serve immediately with some garlic bread and a salad.
