Easy BBQ Marinade For Chicken

Sharing is caring!

Try this easy BBQ marinade for your grilled chicken, it is super simple and turns out perfect every time. You can marinate it overnight or for a few hours and your family will be coming back for seconds and thirds.

My four year old who is such a picky eater loves this recipe, he rarely touches chicken but this one he absolutely will eat every time.

It’s super easy to make and only uses a few ingredients that you probably already have at home. It does have a slight spice to it but not enough to be to hot for someone.

This is one of my favorite dinners to make and you can pair it with pasta, salad, potatoes, or any kind of side.

You could even do it in the oven if you don’t have a grill at 400 degrees for about 15 minutes and then use the broiler to caramelize the sauce.

It all depends on the thickness of your chicken. If you follow my recipe and pound out the chicken 15 minutes will be about right give or take a few minutes.

Easy bbq Marinade

For this recipe, you will need chicken breast or you can use chicken tenderloin which works well too.

I like to cut all the fat off the chicken first and if I use chicken breast I cut them in half through the middle.

You will need a meat tenderizer or a rolling pin and then poke some holes in the chicken with a fork.

I use my favorite bbq sauce (sweet baby rays) add that into the marinade along with honey, Italian salad dressing (bottle kind), red pepper flakes, pepper, and olive oil.

Just put your chicken in a bowl or ziplock bag add the marinade and refrigerate for two hours or overnight.

When you put the chicken on the grill make sure you let it warm up for fifteen minutes before grilling or it will burn.

Pour the leftover marinade over the chicken and then add bbq sauce using a brush. Let it cook depending on the size of your chicken for about 6 minutes per side.

Add the bbq sauce to the other side when you flip it!

Use a meat thermometer or look for clear juices running out of it so that you know it is cooked through. When in doubt check with a knife and fork to make sure it isn’t pink.

Final Thoughts on this easy bbq marinade

I like to use the sweet baby rays bbq sauce though you can try your favorite one.

This recipe works on pork as well and like I said before you can make it in the oven if you need to.

If you do use your oven make sure to broil for 2 minutes to help caramelize the sauce.

You can serve this in the summertime or spring and it goes with anything which makes it easy to put together dinner when you are in a hurry.

Put it on a salad, have corn and potatoes with it, or mashed potatoes in the fall.

It’s perfect for anytime really, give it a try and let me know what you think!!
